Flame sterilization is a continuous high-intensity thermal processing method that uses direct gas flame impingement to rapidly heat rotating cans. The transient bulk temperature profile of well-mixed liquid packs is modeled using the lumped capacitance method. This calculation evaluates the rate of thermal change and exit bulk temperature after the flame heating stage.
